Hello, Sutherland!

Sitemeter is a cool site.

It tells you where people are viewing your blog from in real time.

Recently, meaning today, there has been someone from Sutherland, VA looking at both me and my wife's blog A LOT.

Why do I even bother telling you this? Well, my wife and I have a mortal enemy in Sutherland. I wonder if it's them? I hope not. Anyway, hello Sutherland!

Suzanne is One Scary Lady

Don't know if you've ever seen "Seeking Solutions With Suzanne," but I used to think she was just a harmless, old, cooky lady that made me laugh.

To watch her discuss this topic without getting freaked out is impossible.

Enjoy!

Can't a man just get a haircut?

Southpark Mall was dead tonight. None of the typical crowd was there. I figured it would be a great time to walk in to the Hair Cuttery and get my unruly head of hair tamed. WRONG!

I walk in and promptly wait about 5 minutes until I'm even greeted. I'm then told I have 2 people in front of me, with about a 30 minute wait. No problem, I'll go check out the progress on the new food court.

About 15 minutes later I stroll back in to the Hair Cuttery, again wait about 5 minutes to be greeted, and then am told that a "gold member" came in for an appointment and I still have 2 people in front of me and about a 30 minute wait! Eventhough I wanted to, I didn't tell the ever helpful Hair Cuttery "stylist" what she could do with the absurdly named "gold member." I just told her to take me off the list and I left.

Seriously, I thought going to a place called the Hair Cuttery on a dead Tuesday night would be a great idea. Boy am I stupid! Now if only I can become a "gold member," I'd be set!

Go Honey, Go!

My wife got some great news over the weekend. She got a job interview at a major company here in Richmond AND another major company called her back wanting to speak with her.

Belinda has been working really hard at a job she hates while temping. She wants to get a job in her field and, God willing, it looks like things are turning her way.

Please pray for her interview on Tuesday. Thanks!

Go get 'em honey!

Gladiators READY?!?

Tonight was the debut of the new American Gladiators. Really that's all that needs to be said in this post, but I'll elaborate.

Anyone reading this blog will no doubt remember the first incarnation of this show. Not a whole lot has changed. As opposed to Larry Czonka and the dweeby dude being the hosts, Hulk Hogan and Layla Ali have taken on hosting duties. As an aside, let me just say that having out of breath contestants talking to Hulk Hogan and calling him the Hulkster is rich in and of itself.

The new batch of gladiators are hilarious. The three that stand out are Wolf, Titan, and Hellga. Per his name, Wolf howls anytime his name is mentioned and he has a group in the crowd called...wait for it... the wolf pack. Titan is probably one of the largest gladiators, but my wife swears he's gay. Why, I'm not sure, but I don't argue the gaydar. Finally, Hellga. No I didn't misspell her name. She's so scary that she deserves two L's in her name. Not that I'm against buff ladies, but come on! Hellga is no doubt very close to being a man. The picture at the beginning of this post says it all. She is very scary.

The contestants on tonight's show were hilarious. One guy was supposed to be on the original American Gladiators but got stuck in LA traffic so the producers gave his spot away. He didn't win this time and went a crying jag and started thanking everyone. For goodness' sakes man, you're on American Gladiators get over it!

The show comes on again tonight at 8 on NBC. Watch it.

Hokies Disappoint...Skins WILL Win

The Hokies put up a disappointing effort last night. A team can't expect to win when they turn the ball over three times for a score by their opponent.

Would've been nice to end with a BCS bowl win this season, but I'm still a Hokie through and through.

This Saturday's 'Skins playoff game will not yield such a disappointing outcome. Todd Collins and the boys will roll in to Seattle and come out with a hard fought win. It's supposed to be raining on Saturday (shocker for Seattle!). I predict a close game dominated by the run game. Clinton "Choo-Choo" Portis will be key. The final score will be around 23-21 with the Skins on top.

Hail to the Redskins!

One of the most awesome things to happen to you as a kid

Yesterday was a big day for the kids. First day back at school since having 3 weeks off. They were excited and ready to roll. They got their clothes on and ate breakfast at a break-neck pace. The sibling fighting was even held to a bare minimum.

Time to roll out the door came and out they went. They started waiting for the bus in the unusually cold weather. They continued to wait. And waited some more.

A high school girl eventually came by to give them some of the best news a kid could get...school was put off for another day!

Grandma called school and verified the good news. The schools must have added an extra day of vacation because they hadn't used any snow days. We didn't know about it because we took them out a 3 day early to go to Disney.

Needless to say, the kids were stoked. K. went to Chuck E. Cheese with a friend while B. and C. spent most of the day playing "High School Musical:Sing It!" on the Wii.

Looking at this turn of events with adult eyes, it seems to me to be like waking up on Saturday, thinking it's Friday, getting ready for work, and then finding out it's truly Saturday. What an awesome end to a great Christmas break!

Wakka, wakka, wakka!

This is the only ranking that I'll do from last year, but this video is easily the funniest thing I saw last year.

Enjoy!

Happy New Year! This is what this blog is gonna be for...

I hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve last night. Our family stayed up to watch the ball drop. We had our "traditional" meal of appetizers and junk food. My girls made homemade confetti, which was a lot of fun to throw at midnight.

I post the above picture to get this blog back on track. Since this thing is named "Especially Blessed," I want to begin in the new year to refocus on my blessings. In case you can't tell what's going on in the picture, it was taken at "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party" with one of the best Santa's we've ever seen.

I'm blessed that we were able to go to Orlando this Christmas. I'm also blessed that we were able to buy a timeshare so we can go back next year.

Here's to a year full of blessings and being able to notice those blessings when they don't seem as obvious as a trip to Mickey's house.
