Apologetics Is Really Cool

Yeah, yeah...you probably think going through proofs of your faith is a boring, mental exercise. I couldn't agree less.

I've really been forced to dig deep recently into my view of Christianity, as I've been discussing with a close friend at work his Christadelphian views. A lot of folks call the Christadelphians a cult. I don't go that far as I don't see the point. I don't believe their viewpoint is truly biblical. They believe it is.

Here's a really neat apologetics website. Check it out if you have a sec and you enjoy mental gymnastics.

I Want a Beard for My Birthday

Sometimes C.'s "limitations" because of his hydrocephalus are really frustrating, BUT usually his uniquessnes shines through and it can result in hilarity.
For some reason, C. has an infatuation with anything related to a beard. You read that right, a beard. Whenever he sees my dad, which is about every 6 months, one of his first questions to Granpa is, "Why you have that beard on?"
Whenever I don't shave over the weekend, which is quite regularly, he says, "Why you growing a beard?" and laughs histerically.
Last night topped the beard covered cake. He just looked directly at Belinda and said, "For my birfday...I want a beard. It will go here and here" pointing to where the beard must show up on his face. What a weird, but funny, thing to blurt out.

I most definitely will be purchasing him something similar to the picture above in October. Hope he likes it. Maybe I'll throw in the monocle to make him look even more dignified.

Finally Feeding Myself Again

I'm a believer in Christ. I don't use follower right there as I haven't done much following recently. I know all of the things that good "Christian soldiers" are supposed to do, but I just can't seem to force myself to do them recently.

However, I've been on a road recently that has lead me back to the source of all hope for true disciples, the Bible. I go pretty regularly to a group of guys that sit around and talk with one another, pray for one another, and try to build each other up in the name of Christ. Chris, who attends the group, suggested we started reading some sort of book together recently. Like guys tend to do, we didn't come up with a decision on what to read. We did look at Scripture and felt that was a great place to start, but no plan was put in place.

I also have been discussing faith with a coworker of mine that claims himself as a Christadelphian. Some of this denomination's views are a little off the beaten path when related to what the Word of God says. My friend at work and I haven't really debated things but discussed things in depth, using Scripture as our reference point. Really researching why I believe the things I believe in Scripture has been awesome!

Finally, I overheard some folks talking at the church picnic about truly listening to God through reading His word. Plain and simple, yet true. God has spoken to us, but it's our job to actively listen.

So I've started earnestly reading the Word again. It's been an adventure that I'm glad I finally picked back up. I'm not gonna say it's all been an activity that I give my whole attention to, but I do it no matter what, for a whole week now (I know, Iknow...a whole 7 days). Try it out. Here's the reading plan I've been using. I like this reading plan, as it keeps you in one book at a time, which allows you to really stitch the whole story together.
